Recovery of stolen autos up by 2011, H.E.A.T. report

Since 1985, Livonia-based help eliminate Auto Theft (H.E.A.T.) has been working in partnership with citizens and law enforcement to keep Michigan communities safe from the dangers and costs associated with auto theft-related crimes.

Until recently in the 26-year-history, H.E.A.T. has managed to call the anonymous tip more than 9,100 and delivery web site, which has resulted in the recovery of more than 4,400 vehicles worth more than $ 54 million. As a result, more than 3,500 suspects were arrested and more than 2,200 tipsters have given some $ 3.7 million for them.

In 2011, seeing an increase in the H.E.A.T. 2010 in almost every statistical category. In addition, a number of tips are paid, the amount of tips given and the value of property recovered all experiencing an increase in the numbers 2010 and 2009.

From 1 January to 31 December 2011, H.E.A.T. succeeded in 338 tip calls, which led to the recovery vehicle 97 (up from 77 in 2010) worth more than $ 1.6 million (up from about $ 90,000 in 2010 and $ 211,000 in 2009). Seventy-seven suspects were arrested and 55 anonymous tipsters received awards worth nearly $ 117,000 (almost 30 percent increase from last year).
